The Snuggie and the Forever Lazy, at first glance, appear to be similar products. In fact, many reviewers have dismissed the latter as a “clone” of the former without so much as a second glance. Having reviewed both, there are in fact a several key differences between the two that almost makes comparing the two at all seem like a foolish endeavor.
Design
In reality, the only real similarity between the two products is that both are designed to be wearable blankets. How they accomplish this, however, is in two very different ways. The Snuggie, for instance, is essentially just a blanket with two short sleeves. It can best be described as a robe worn backwards, where upon inserting your hands through the armholes, you entire front is covered but your back is not.
Your head, feet, and the majority of your arms remain uncovered as well. Forever Lazy, in comparison, is designed more like a complete tracksuit or set of pajamas. It easily zips up to allow you to put it on quickly, leaving no part of your body uncovered. Your head is kept warms by a pull string hood, and your feet are kept cozy with an included pair of fleece socks.
Comfort
Without a doubt, there is a major difference in the comfort level between the two products as well. While the Snuggie does an adequate job of being soft, it isn’t really suitable for keeping you very warm. Like the Forever Lazy, it is made of fleece; however the fleece material making up the Snuggie seems to be much thinner.
Combined with the fact that it only covers a small portion of your body, and the Snuggie really can’t keep you very warm or comfortable for very long. The Lazy fleece in comparison feels much fuller and warmer, allowing your whole body to stay very toasty no matter the temperature.
Additional Features
In terms of features, there is quite a large gap between the two products as well. At its core, the Snuggie is a very basic product. Other than the sleeves that allow it to function as a wearable blanket, there isn’t much more to it. The Forever Lazy, on the other hand, has a bevy of additional features that make it stand out. For starters, every fleece outfit has special zippers on the front and the back.
These zippers are meant to allow the wearer to easily use the restroom without completely taking the outfit off. It also is easy to remove thanks to a nearly full-length front zipper. Lastly, the hood is adjustable thanks to a pull-string that allows the wearer to tighten or loosen the hood as needed.
Conclusion
While everyone no doubt will have their own favorite between the two, it really seems ill-advised to say the Snuggie is similar to its Lazy competitor. It may serve the same purpose as its very core, but it does so in a much less effective way. If you’re looking for the most advanced, comfortable wearable blanket available, go with the Forever Lazy.
